Mazoe Citrus Estates Setting The Pace At Bindura and Harare Agricultural Show 2008

Once again, Mazoe Citrus estates have maintained their reputation and standards of quality champions and innovation gurus. They won this year's best display at the Harare Agricultural show without any difficutlties or competition from the rest of the exhibitors. MCE was joined by the Flowers SBU displaying their export quality roses at various stages of growth. Not to be outdone, Smithfield Horticulture were also present with their wide range of fresh grown vegetables together with seeds of some of the products grown. Those who thronged the stand were much interested in knowing how we grow our oranges, flowers and the various vegetables starting from land preparation to planting, fertilizer application, harvesting and marketing. The oranges were displayed in two groups. The export quality oranges were packed in boxes and loose locally sold oranges were packed in high quality pockets.

His Honourable Excellency, President Robert Mugabe together with the Govenor of the Reserve Bank Mr. Gideon Gono accompanied by various Ministers of Parliament stopped by our exhibition stand and took time discussing with our Group's representative Koga Muriva marvelling at the export quality products grown at Mazoe Citrus Estates and Flowers. The delegation was so impresed that the R.B.Z Govenor gave the subsidiary divisions and ox-drawn plough, a scortch cart and chemicals.

Mazoe Flowers had on display, their 21 rose varieties which included Sacha - the red rose, Golden Gate - the yellow, Ice Cold - the white rose amongst many others that the general public were amazed to note that one flower could have so many varieties with exciting names like Akito and Pleasure!

Smithfiled Horticulture - first timers, started on a vibrant note with fresh and healthy vegetables picked from the red soils the of Mazoe Valley. The vegetables included potatoes, tomatoes, beetroot, broccoli, butternut amongst a wide range of fresh products. Our representatives were on the ready with information on how we can all grow our own healthy vegetables in our backyards and most important of all, why it is important for all of us to eat at 5 servings of vegetables on a daily basis.

By the way:- Did you know that under the term Navel Oranges we have a wide variety of oranges including the Newhall, Lima, Palmer and BH oranges, all of which are grown at MCE?
